20 High School Girls Receive a Scholarship for 2011-12 School Year and 4 Graduate. |
|
Contributors and donors made it possible for 20 girls to attend High School in Ghana for the 2011-12 school year. A transfer of $8,000 was
initiated October 11th, 2011. It takes $400.00 to sponsor a girl and
this amount pays for their tuition, room and board, books and uniforms
for a year.
We are thankful for your generous support to the education of these worthy scholarship recipients,

Letter of acknowledgement from St. Anne's principal |
|
October 3rd, 2011
Dear Silvia,
The new school
year has just
begun, when we have to admit new students.
The new entrants reported to school on the 16th
of September,
whilst the continuing students reported on 23rd of
September 2011.
ENROLMENT:
We have projected
a new intake
of forty-five students but so far thirty eight students have
reported. We are
in our rainy season and we do have frequent down pour of rain
which has flooded
our rivers and dams and devastated the roads so travelling is a
very tedious exercise
these days and that is why we are patiently waiting for the
students who are
yet to report to do so. The total enrolment will remain 180
students because
there are no additional classroom and dormitory blocks to
accommodate an
increase of students in take. Furniture is also limited.

Very Successful Third Annual Fundraiser "TIGRI" |
Women to Women International Fundraiser Helps Educate, Empower Ghana Girls
Santa Barbara benefit raises funds to provide 15 students with another year of high school
Our third annual fundraiser was a HUGE success! We have not only reached but exceeded our goal of $6,000 to sponsor 15 girls so they can finish High School in Damongo, Ghana, Africa. We continue to receive your generous donations at Women To Women International 1298 Orchid Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93111 daily. Let us know if you need brochures or donation cards and we'll be happy to mail them to you.
We called the St. Anne's High School in Damongo, Ghana, and were informed classes have not started yet. Mrs. Wumnaya, the principal, is very grateful for our continued support and will call us as soon as they know if any of the new girls need scholarships.
As soon as all donations are received and deposited, we will transfer the funds to sponsor our original 15 for a third year, plus any additional girls who are in need of scholarships up to the full amount of all funds donated.
When you have time, please read and share with others the NOOZHAWK article written by our lovely guest journalist, Melissa Walker:

Ghana High School Project Continues to Grow |
|
2011 was marked by more volunteer involvement in the Ghana High School
Project. It seemed that even though the economic situation of our
country and the world worsened, hearts opened up wider than ever. We
are greatful to each and everyone of you who made it possible to send 15
girls to a High School in Ghana for two years in a row. Our goal is to
continue to support their education and to sponsor more girls as we are
able.
A team was formed to be a sounding board for the Ghana High School Project,
a new board of directors was established.

Fifteen bicycles were shipped together with other items donated such as
printers, audio equipment, computers...
with the help of volunteers Gonzalo, Judy Allen, Rose Arnold, Lisa French, and Fred Arthur.

The fundraiser was on its way with the contributions of many selfless women and the support of their spouses, families and friends.
